  • To establish the aircraft in slow flight on the backside of the power curve, where more power is needed to fly slower, as indicated by intermittent stall warnings a stall, and to safety recover promptly and smoothly to normal flight on command of the examiner.
Tolerance
AS N/A.
ALT ±100feet.
HDG ±10°.
AoB: ±5°.
RHI ±10°.
Procedure
  • AoB is 15° (not standard rate of turn).
  • HASEL check (be sure Carb heat Hot & Mixture Rich (pushed in)).
  • Height at or above 2000feet AGL.
  • Reduce power to 1500 rpm.
  • Flaps, if requested by examiner.
  • Pull the joke until hear stall horn.
  • Slow flight 70kt, within 5 to 10 knots stall speed which is Vs.(Clean),66 knots, apply power to hold altitude.
  • Right rudder to maintain heading.

Declare slow flight, Symptoms:

  • Stall horn indicates the critcal angle of attack.
  • High nose up attitude.
  • Aileron Controls sluggish.
  • Laminer Air flow buffeting.
  • High Power Setting.
  • Low airspeed (50 knots ish, within 5 to 10 kt of the stall speed, Vs.,47kt)).
  • Instructor will ask:

HDG Heading
AoB Angle of Bank
